Selena Gomez and The Scene Call It Quits (For Now)

By on February 14, 2012

It looks like Selena Gomez and the Scene have called it quits – for now at least.

After three albums and the recent completion of their South American tour, the bad have decided to temporarily call it quits.  Selena Gomez announced the news on Facebook this last Saturday saying that her and the band were going their separate ways for now.  The singer had already mentioned earlier this year that she would be taking a break from music to focus on her acting career, so this step seems only fitting.  She mentioned in the post that she wanted the band to be able to play music wherever and with whomever they like.  19 year old Gomez commented, “We will be back but, it will be a good while. I love them and I love you guys.”  Selena also uploaded a photo of the band to her Instagram account exclaiming how grateful she was to have the band as they had been with her since day one and was emotional over the split.

The Scene consists of drummer Gregory Garman, bass guitarist Joey Clement and keyboard player Dane Forrest.  The music group released three albums since 2009: Kiss & Tell, A Year Without Rain and When the Sun Goes Down.  Meanwhile, Gomez is signed on to the movie Spring Breakers and will be lending her voice to the animated movie Hotel Transylvania.  What do you think of this split?
