Jennifer Lawrence-My Mom Pushed Me To Do Hunger Games
Jennifer Lawrence talked to Total Film about how her mother is the one who pushed her to do The Hunger Games. While that sounds like her mother may have been pushy, she actually was being helpful. Jennifer claims that her mother reasoned with her on why she should do it and forget about the size of it. Of course, she talks about it in a much more common sense way, as you will see in the quotes below. Also, don’t forget that the movie opens nationwide March 23rd.
“I always got asked why I did indies, not studio films, and I said it was about the script, it’s not about how big it is, And she was like, ‘This is a script you love, a character you love, and you’re about to turn it down because of the size of it? You’re a hypocrite! My mom has a terrible habit of reading books, telling me to read them and then me doing the movie – she did the same with ‘Winter’s Bone.”
It sounds like her mother knows best! I am sure she is happy now to connected to such a big project that can help her get her name out. She sort of reminds me of Kristen Stewart who was an indie film fan before she landed the role of Bella Swan. I think we can all agree that Jennifer will be in demand once this movie opens and does well. She will likely be fighting off offers, in fact! I am sure her mother will be happy with that news, but I am not sure if that is what Jennifer wants.
Do you think Jennifer’s mom was right? I do and I hope she listens to her more often. Sure, being in a huge project can be daunting, but she can reap the benefits. She already had one Oscar nomination under her belt now, but we need to see and hear more about her. It could boost her career more than what Winters Bone did for her. Hopefully she understands that and will be pleased with the results.

I’m glad she listened to her mum, but it just goes to show that Jennifer is not in the business to be ‘popular’ but because she feels she can fit the roles that the script is asking for. I think that she has a great head on her shoulders but also great advice from her mum. She may be in high demand if The Hunger Games is a hit, but I think she will stick with her feelings about the scripts she gets and as she said not worry about whether it’s a big blockbuster or not.
If Jennifer recieved a nomination for Winter’s Bone, there’s a good chance that she’ll get one for The Hunger Games!
