Danielle Tarantola was laid off three years ago from her Wall Street Job. But that did not stop her from getting her Trouble cloned. She spent about $50,000 to get her first pet’s genetics replicated. After the original Trouble died from old age, she then got the cloned puppy and name it Double Trouble.

Tarantola had to go to Korea to have her pet’s genetics replicated and cloned. She also got a big discount on the procedure because she made an agreement to appear on I Clone My Pet(a special on TLC). She later on appeared on the Anderson Cooper show to talk about her experience.

I can understand the great love of a pet especially after eighteen years of companionship. As I understand it, the cloned animal won’t live that long because the cloned cells are still the same age of the original cells. It would be too heartbreaking to lose a much loved pet twice. How healthy would the pet be during its lifetime? Would it suffer from old age prematurely? It’s also important to mention that there are thousands of abandoned pets in shelters and pounds that are waiting to be adopted. These are thoughts to be considered.
