The Hunger Games fans can rejoice at the news that the series and movie merchandise. WizKids has confirmed 3 new items that will be coming out in support of the movie. It includes a board game (The Hunger Games District 12 Strategy Game), action figures (The Hunger Games Collectible Figures Single-Figure Boosters), and a collector’s card game (The Hunger Games Jabberjay Card Game). They will release 2 different action figure dolls of Katniss and Peeta, which will make many fans happy. With the collector’s card game, it is almost like a throwback for the old anime fans. Here is what MTV Games had to say about the news.

Details are slim on the upcoming games, with what little information we have coming from some marketing copy on the blog of game product distributor Game Salute. There, Rennee Masson describes the District 12 strategy game as one that “will highlight storyline from the movie. Players will attempt to gather food, clothing, medicine, and more in efforts to avoid The Reaping.” Masson also describes the Jabberjay card game as “a game of secrets and deduction,” where players focus on revealing the secret identities of their opponents.

This is great news for the fans, but I do feel as if this might be pushing it a bit. Do they realize that this might be cashing in excessively much? Do they really need to action figures? I don’t think so and it makes me upset to see that they feel the need to release them. It just seems like they are trying to over do the promotion for the movie was too much.

Are you planning to buy some of these new items? I have a feeling that the action figures will do well and so will the collector’s cards. But I am not sure about the board game. It just seems like their copying Twilight and I doubt the fan base is the same.
