The Hunger Games Book Sales Reach Over 16 Million
The Hunger Games is looking to be one of this year’s biggest blockbusters and that is no surprise. Just based on the book sales, which have almost doubled after movie production from 9 million to 16 million; we can say that Lionsgate is about to be over flown with money. The book series has seen growth in sales due to movie buzz, holidays and soon to be released tie-in books along with a collection of three new books. Place on that on top of the movie, and you have an endless possibility of millions being earned from one book or series alone. This is what Lionsgate had to say about the book series sale record.
I’m thrilled book sales continue to rise as our campaign rolls out. Knowing that the materials and publicity surrounding the movie have inspired people to read the books is very encouraging.
I am pleased to see that the books haven’t lost growth. Despite a movie is being made, the books can fit in so much more and to me have more value. Yes, not everybody is a book fan, but we shouldn’t forget that without the book there would be no movie to make. I suspect that the series will keep on selling well, even after the movie opens. Sort of like what happened with Twilight and Harry Potter. Both series still managed to do well in sales, even now after their movies have pretty much ended.
How do you feel about this news? Do you think the movie will be better than the books? I personally doubt that due to the fact that no movie is better than the books. That just never happens since books can go so much more in depth. They make the story personal, while movies take that element away. Either way, I think it safe to say that the movie will be good; just not as good as the book.

Yay! The Hunger Games rocks!
Woohoo, Hunger Games is awesome! It will surpass Twilight for sure, but not Harry Potter because it’s huge. Even if you combine Twilight and Hunger Games, still not bigger than Harry Potter.
