The Disney Fantasy Takes Test Drive in Germany – Video

Disney Cruise Line is growing with their newest ship testing waters. The Disney Fantasy got its very try in the actual ocean in Germany, where it is being built. The test was to make sure that it was safe and built up to par. The final 2 weeks of construction to do the finishing touches should start about now. It is slated to make its first cruise trip on March 21st. Before then though, it will have to embark on its trip from Europe to New York where it will take off for its very first cruise trip ever. The boat will be used for 7 day/night Caribbean trips. You will find a video that tells you more about the ship down below.

I have to say that the ship sounds to be very luxe. However, I won’t deny that the idea of riding a cruise ship kind of scares me. It always reminds me of the Titanic and that makes me a tad nervous for those who do ride on them. I know, most do come back safely. But you never know and while Disney is a fun way to travel, I am hoping that they do focus on the safety part as well as the fun.

Do you hope to ride on a Disney cruise ship? I know a lot of people do and that is great. I am glad to see that the first attempt at sea was a good one. I also think that they do make good vacations, but they are just not my cup of tea. I am just not crazy about the idea of being stuck on the ocene for so long.

The ship is not in the ocean, yet. They just floated it out of the building into their lagoon. The shipyard is inland. It needs to sail down the Ems river to get to the ocean and that has not been scheduled (at least not that I’ve seen).

Meyer Werft said Disney Fantasy is scheduled to make its conveyance along the Ems River to the North Sea two weeks after the float out, depending on weather and tidal conditions.
