The nominations for the 2012 Oscar nominations are out. This year’s list includes the following movies, actors, and directors.
Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo” has earbned eleven nominations which include Best Picture and Best Director. The nominees for Best Picture Awards includes “The Artist”, “The Descendants”, “Extremely Loud and Incredible Close”, “The Help”, “Midnight in Paris”, “Moneyballs”, “The Tree of Life”, and “War Horse”.

The following nominees up for the Best Actor award include Jean Dujardin for “The Artist”, George Clooney for “The Descendants”, Demian Bichir for “A Better Life”, Gary Oldman for “Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy”, and Brad Pitt for “Moneyball”. The following nomination for Best Actress include Meryl Streep for “Iron Lady”, Michelle Williams for “My Week with Marilyn”, Glen Close for “Albert Nobbs”, Viola Davis for “The Help”, and Rooney Mara for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.

Since there was a rule change regarding the Best Picture Award, I wonder if there will be other rule changes for Best Actress and Best Actor Awards in the future? Jean Dujardin from “The Artist certainly looks the part of a silent movie actor. Meryl Streep does resemble Margaret Thatcher in “Iron Lady”.
