Selena Gomez – Wizards of Waverly Place Nominated for NAACP Award
While Wizards of Waverly Place took its last bow earlier this month, the show received a nomination for an award in the NAACP Image Awards.
The hit Disney Channel show is up for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. The writers Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio are the ones to receive the award if they win for their writing on the Wizards Vs Angels episodes. NAACP is the accolade presented by the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to award outstanding people of color in film, television, music and literature. The 35 categories of Image Awards are voted on by members of the NAACP. There are also honorary awards, including the President’s Award, the Chairman’s Award, Entertainer of the Year and The Image Award Hall of Fame.
Selena Gomez the breakout star of the show will be moving on to bigger acting roles this year with two movies scheduled and already in motion. The singer and actress has garnered herself a great reputation for her wholesome but mature image, but with one of her roles for this year pushing at those boundaries it will be hard to know if that image will remain. What do you think of the accolade? Are you sad that Wizards of Waverly place is no longer airing?
