Redline is a new anime movie being released by Anchor Bay Entertainment’s Manga Entertainment in honor of their 20-year anniversary. The movie, which was written by Katsuhito Ishii, will come out on January 17th along with another anime movie called First Squad: The Moment of Truth. Redline will have a limited theatrical release on the 6th, but you can find 2 clips of it below. Also, here is the official description of the movie for those interested in learning more about it.

REDLINE is about the biggest and most deadly racing tournament in the universe. Only held once every five years, everyone wants to stake their claim to fame, including JP, a reckless dare-devil driver oblivious to speed limits with his ultra-customized car – all the while, organized crime and militaristic governments want to leverage the race to their own ends. Amongst the other elite rival drivers in the tournament, JP falls for the alluring Sonoshee – but will she prove his undoing, or can a high speed romance survive a mass destruction race?

It certainly sounds like it will be an adventure at the very least. They seem to love storylines that have lots of adventures or fighting, and I suppose that is partly why it is so popular. I will admit that I am amazed by just how long the pop culture has stayed in love with it. That seems to be a rare feat, but I guess it shows you just how much people love a good story that is turned into animation.

Are you looking forward to either of these titles? I am not much of an anime watcher, so I can’t really say. Just based on the clips and description, I will say that it sounds like it will appeal to a lot of people. However, I am not sure about the age group that should be watching some that is described as a “deadly racing tournament”. So I would think that it should appeal to teens or adults just based on that.
