Moms Stage A Nurse-In At Target Store

By on January 1, 2012

It wasn’t too long ago that one Target store in Texas was under fire for allegedly harassing a woman who was just nursing her child inside the store. Michelle Hickman went public with her complaint against several Target employees who insisted that she take her child and find another place to nurse her baby.

This story has inspired mothers everywhere to unite and participate in nurse-ins at Target stores all over the country. Women everywhere wanted to make a statement and show support for other mothers.

There is nothing wrong with breast feeding your child and I don’t think that anyone could disagree with that. And although there is nothing wrong with staging a nurse-in at a store, I do think that it’s a little bizarre to choose this method of action. Most people and companies don’t really care if a mother chooses to breastfeed in public, so this leaves me to wonder if this isn’t just to get attention, especially since this story has gone public. What do you think of this story? If it’s true that Michelle Hickman was treated in a negative manner by Target employees, then they were in the wrong. I really don’t see how a nurse-in would make a big difference.
