Hunger Games’ Catching Fire To Come Out Nov 2013

The Hunger Games may have not been released yet, but Lionsgate already seems to believe that it will be a hit. While we all are waiting for the March 23rd release, they set the date for Catching Fire‘s release. It is set for November 22, 2013, according to Optionated. The screenwriter for the movie is Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Hunger Games director Gary Ross will return as well. As of press time Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson have signed on for the sequel.

I have to say that I am happy that they believe that Hunger Games will do well, but to go ahead and start on the sequel so soon is still a risk. We know the books have done very well and the movie appears to be heading that way. But even the stars say that we should not make assumptions at this point and I agree with them.

Do you think planning the sequel is too much of a risk? I do and not because I don’t believe in the movie. But it is more based on the fact that they are buying Summit and I am just not sure how well they will do this year in terms of earnings. I would think that to release the first one and waiting to see what happens will be the best choice for the sake of the companies.
