Hostess Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Jan - 15 2012 | Sarah Peel | no comments

Hostess has filed for bankruptcy protection for the second time in 10 years. The company who makes Twinkies and Wonder Bread promises to keep making these products for now. But they are trying to cut down on their own costs. They claim that the reason for their issues is that American has become obsessed with eating healthy. Their mini cakes and white bread sadly are no longer a supported way of eating for now. While they have not stated if they will do layoffs, they also said that it isn’t out of question.

I have to say that I always loved Hostess. I think they are a natural part of our American history and I would hate to see them close their doors. While they may not be perfect or even healthy, I do think eating them once in a while is fine. I also feel like we have seen so many iconic brands closing down this past decade, and I really do not want to see anymore of them to do that.

Do you think Hostess needs to change their products or marketing? I think over the next few years the current diet craze will swing to the other end. And maybe we will finally see more people eating the white bread and cupcakes again. Until then, I think we all do need to support the iconic brand.
