Jennifer Lawrence and The Hunger Games – E!’sThe Awful Truth’s Take
E! has gotten into making light off The Hunger Games, and this has many fans annoyed. But this time Ted Casablanca’s show The Awful Truth has given his 2 reasons for “loving” Jennifer Lawrence and the book/movie. It has made some fans pretty mad, but it is his opinion and makes a good conversation for everybody. Then again, with a show titled like that makes it hard to take these comments seriously. Though I do suspect some grain of truth is in them at least in his opinon. Here is what he had to say about them.
9. The Hunger Games. Whew! Just when we thought Twilight was gonna forever be branded as the mega-franchise based on a series of books, along comes the very talented Suzanne Collins and her riveting novels (and now films), complete with characters killing each other on network TV. Hey, beats dying of boredom while waiting for Edward to finally kiss Bella, right? Truly brings back to the tent-pole series what J.K. Rowling did with the Harry Potter books and movies—at least that’s how it’s looking to us, so far.
12. Jennifer Lawrence: Hollywood’s Other It Girl. Like Rooney, JenLaw is also very deserving of the title. Of course there was Winter’s Bone, which earned her an Oscar nom (and gave us the chance to see her in that va-va-voom red dress she donned on the red carpet), but she also gave stellar performances in smaller flicks this year like a used and abused rebound GF in Like Crazy and a high school good girl itching to be bad in The Beaver. And that’s before we even mention Hunger Games!
It was an interesting take, but I hardly see what the big deal about. I don’t think what he said is technically wrong, even if some fans might be offended by what he said. I personally love how honest he was. But I can see how some might think that he was being pompous. That could put off a few people who are either die- hard fans of any of the 3 series that he compared.
How do you feel about his comments? I think they are a tad tacky, but what can we do? At least he was being honest about his opinion. However, I do agree with Jennifer that the movie will be drastically different from Harry Potter or Twilight. In addition, if anyone knows about that, it would be the stars of the movies. So I would take word above anyone else’s.
