Debby Ryan’s Jessie – Stars Wars Review

Jan - 08 2012 | Sarah Peel | no comments

Jessie‘s newest episode of the new year, “Star Wars” was nothing like how the title made it sound. The kid’s father wants a big teen heartthrob (Jordan Taylor) to be the star of his new movie, but he has to leave Jessie in charge due to having a meeting. So he asks her to watch the kids to make sure that they do not ruin his chance at getting the big star to be in his new movie. As usual, things do not go to plan and Jessie finds herself in competition with Emma for Jodan. While the other 3 are just trouble makers when it comes to keeping a secret. Poor Jessie finds herself dealing with some not so nice cases, like being stuck on a window cleaner’s lift. Yet she pulls it off and helps save the kids from the would be damage of the truth. But is it too late?

I have to say that Disney has gained another mark by the public for this episode. While many found it funny that Jessie mentioned that Justin Bieber looks like a girl, many others didn‘t like it. I won’t deny and say that it wasn’t something that I did not laugh at. But Justin has been a good sport and this is one of the reasons we do love the show. It has humor that most won’t dare try to tread on. Yes, it was immature but that does not take away from its humor. Then again, most shows like this do use some funny humor that might appeal to everybody. Yet I do think it was harmless enough. As for rest of the episode, I found myself feeling bad for Jessie once more. Those kids abuse her, like lock her in closet. However, I really felt bad for her when she was on the window washes lift. That was scary for her, but extremely entertaining for us home viewers.

How do you feel about this episode? I am pleased to see that Debby has found herself a show to really shine through and I love how the writers write each episode. I think the humor can appeal to all age groups. Sure, it is goofy but isn’t that what we would expect out of Disney? I wouldn’t and I don’t want them to change. And based on the preview for the next episode later on this month, I am already looking forward to it. Debby in my opinion, should have had her own show all along!
