Breaking Dawn Part 1 Brings In Over 700 Million Worldwide – Is Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart To Blame?

Good news for Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 fans! The first half of the mega series final book turned into movie earned over $700 million. Lionsgate and their new sub-company Summit Entertainment released the collective earnings of the first half of Breaking Dawn. While we have to wait for the second and final half (it comes out this November), this is what the two joint companies had to say about the earnings.

Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® company, announced today that the fourth installment in the blockbuster TWILIGHT SAGA franchise – THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 has grossed an estimated $701.3 million in global box office receipts since the film’s release on November 18, 2011. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 is on its way to becoming the highest grossing film in the series to date looking to surpass the worldwide box office gross of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON which tallied $709.8 million. The two other two films in the franchise THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE and TWILIGHT have each grossed $698.5 million and $390.4 respectively and the franchise continues to break records. Upcoming releases of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 internationally include Japan and China….The milestone is important on several fronts and illustrates the vitality of the franchise on a global scale even after four films. Stephenie Meyer’s story and characters were brought to the screen this time via the talented hands of Bill Condon along with the cast and crew that has been with the film franchise since its inception. We are very proud of the success the franchise has experienced and anticipate the saga’s conclusion this November.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to so many of us. I know that as a fan, that these movies have been one of the best selling series and movies since it first came out. Plus, add the fact that Bella and Edward get married in the first half, it is hard to believe that this wouldn’t drive people to watch it. I assume the second half will do just as good if not even better than this one.

Did you help bring in the seven million? I think it is safe to assume that at least around half of the population watched it. Just based on those impressive numbers and the fact that this world only has so many people. I would personally think that Summit could have held out on their own, but this does help make a mega company that they both likely wanted. At least the stars of Breaking Dawn are not losing out on anything.

I think that Robert, Taylor and Kristen are all responsible for the Twilight Saga movies doing so well at the box office. Each of them appeals to fans of various ages and both sexes. Personally I have seen each of the films at least 4 times in the movie theaters and bought the DVDs when they became available. Even though I am a grandmother and married for 50 years, I think Robert Pattinson is the hottest looking guy on the planet and really enjoy looking at him. The fact that he is a decent actor also makes viewing every movie that he is in enjoyable.
