Bella Thorne & Zendaya Coleman’s Frenemies – Review

By on January 15, 2012

Frenemies was the latest Disney movie to come out on the Disney Channel. It features Avalon and Halley talking about their webzine called Geekly Chic, which they worked on together. In it they have written a piece about “frenemies”. They then go into details on 3 stories about friends who become frenemies, only to return back to being friends. First half was all about the show-stealing dog, Murray and Jake. Jake is used by a girl who hates Murray and frames him for bad behavior. Jake gets mad at the dog, causing him to run away to Savannah, a girl who likes animals. But Jake realizes this and corrects his train of thought among all of it. Then Avalon and Halley’s tale come into play. They learn that some big shot CEO wants their magazine, but wants to break up the team. Each girl is given the chance to make her case and they of course, fall apart. Of course, they quickly learn that they need each other more than anything else. Which in then takes them to finding the third story, which includes Savannah and her look-alike, Emma. They find each other and trade lives, only to find out that they are better at each other’s lives than their own. Can they salvage their new-found friendship or not? Can any of the 3 save themselves from anger filled relationships?

I am going to admit that I didn’t know how well it would turn out with 3 tales, but they surprised me by how well they wrote it. The fact that Halley and Avalon tell the tale and roll onto the next two stories was bright. The way it unfolded made sense, which is something that I thought might be an issue. Just the way that they circled back to Savannah and her story from their own was amazing. I am so pleased with it. I am also beyond pleased with the actors they picked. Bella Thorne and Zendaya once again did a great job and so did the rest. It is hard to believe that it is all fiction, like when Bella and Zendaya fought. Or when Savannah was longing for Jake. Great acting skills were put to use. So I won’t be ashamed to admit that I would love to see a sequel at the very least with the same writers. They could keep Halley and Avalon in it, and have weave the new tale.

How do you feel about the movie? Was Frenemies as good as you hoped? It was even better than what I expected. I am pretty sure that this will become a favorite of mine for a while. This is the kind of movie that I would love to be on when I was younger, however, I should wrap this review up. I am sure many of you are wonder about the family friendly factor on it. Since it is a Disney movie I can say that I found it to be decent for all ages. Their age target was tweens and teens-so please do keep that in mind. As for the 1 out of 10 rating, I have this an 8.5. It was cute, fun and something that I thought taught a good message. Kids need to remember who their true friends are and stick with those who are. In the end of the movie, you see that is the whole point of it. It is really clear with Avalon and Halley, who were pitted with each other and broke the rules for each other. It could have not been any better than that.

Now it is your turn to rate it, tell us you thoughts about it in the comments below.

Bella just conitinues to WOW in everything she does, she should star in more teen films when she hits like 15 or something. The girl is just so talented and has so much star potential, I expected her to be the new queen of disney, and she’s doing a pretty good job. I wish her nothing but success and best wishes. xoxoxoxo
