ALA Releases Hunger Games READ Poster & Bookmarks for Sale

By on January 5, 2012

The Hunger Games is about to blow up big and everybody involved knows this. The series, which has drawn people from all over to read the books. Now the American Library Association has releases a READ poster that features the cast from the movie. They also released similar bookmarks as well. You will find photos of both down below. Both can be bought from the ALA’s online web store.

I am glad that they finally confirmed this after last month’s snafu. However, I suppose they were not ready for them to come out. I do love the fact that they are using a popular book and movie idea to support reading. But I am not sure if this series will be as good at getting kids to read, much like how Harry Potter did. Then again, I do believe that their target is different than J.K. Rowling’s was.

How do you feel about the poster and bookmarks? I love the concept, but I am just not sure how it will transfer over into sales. Teens typically do read more than kids do and I feel that this series targeted teens over kids, so I don’t see how it will help the much-younger readers. However, I do see fans buying the posters just for their own collections. So that might help them move along their product.
