The Hunger Games Movie Tie-In Covers Released
The Hunger Games has done well and now we finally get to see what they call the tie-in covers. These covers will be placed on the newer editions and upcoming books to go with the movie. While the movie won’t open until March 2012, they are slowly working their way until they have most of the promotional stuff unveiled. One thing that I do want to add was that these covers were first released by VHI and MTV.
I am never a fan of movie tie in covers, so I am not loving them. I would much rather see the traditional ones for any book than the cast of the film. It just seems to take away from the book and make it more like that you have to see them this certain way only. I always loved to come up with how each character looks and what the setting was like in my mind. Movies can take that away and while it will most likely be a great film with the amazing team they have-I do still like to know that the book allows me to think freely.
How do you like the tie in covers? I think that a lot of people must like the concept and that is why they keep doing them for movies. But I really wish as a whole that the practice was stopped. It is just so distracting from the actual book, which is a shame since most books are better than the movie. And I am sure that The Hunger Games will be no exception.

I completely agree with you Sarah about this new spin on older novel title pages… leave well enough alone, the it was when the novel got popular. But I presume the premise is to snag the movie fans to start scooping up the books. But as it is, THE HUNGER GAME books started taking off after filming started and they didn’t need the new covers. I’m glad I snagged my trilogy before they messed them up!

At least it doesn’t have any of the actors on it. Plus, the movie logo is cool, so I am actually quite pleased.
