MTV Names Adele Rolling in the Deep & Nicki Minaj Super Bass as Best of 2011 Songs

British singer Adele may be on a vocal rest, but she is still being favored by her fans. Her hit single “Rolling in the Deep” won the title of 2011’s Best Song. She beats even Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj (who won second place). You can find Adele’s happy response in the video below and also the clip about Nicki’s song “Super Bass” taking number 2. However, in the mean time this is what Adele emailed to MTV to thank them for winning the honor.

Thank you very much for your support! It’s overwhelming how many people my life has resonated with. I find it quite hard to wrap my head around it. I was pretty insistent it be a single. But I thought it would be more a tastemaker vibe than a hit,I loved the song the minute I wrote it. The melody and the beat added some conviction to it. I think that’s why people have connected with it.

Happy holidays, And see you next year.

I am so happy for Adele! This is a great way to end this year after having to take time off for her voice. I am sure she will make up for it next year, but I am just happy that she can enjoy this huge honor. She certainly has earned her spot in my opinion. I am sure that she is excited to come back and thank her fans for their unyielding love for her.

Do you think that both Adele and Nicki deserve the top two spots? I think that they do, but I am surprised that they both beat Lady Gaga. It seems to be such a surprise that is nice for them and their fans alike. I suppose people rather hear about love or a lost of love than powerful dance songs that some might not support. Either way I am happy to see that they get their chance to end this year on such a high note.
