Glee Covers Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas is You

Glee loves to cover hit songs and since the holidays are upon us, what is better than to sing the hit song by Mariah Carey that we all love? They covered “All I Want For Christmas Is You” in honor of the diva herself and Justin who also covered it. As always, they do not match Mariah’s effort, but it is a fun song to hear others singing it. You can see the video of the performance at the end of this post.

I always assumed that they already did a cover of this song, but I guess they didn’t. It is nice to see that they made it lively, much like the original. But it is so hard to be able to be fair to a cover like this when the original was so great. Mariah is a tough act to follow since she sets the bar so high. In a way, that has made the song not a fair playing ground. It has become so much of a classic that I do not see how anybody can bring the justice that Mariah brought it.

Do you think that they did the song justice or not? I would personally love to hear Mariah’s thoughts on how successful the song became and how she feels about covers. Yes, I am aware that she did join Bieber on his, but beyond that, I wonder how she feels. I think that I would be so touchy about it if I was her. If something isn’t broke, why fix it? I feel that applies to good songs as well.
