Gap and Netflix Disappoint Online Customers

By on December 29, 2011

In a recent survey for satisfactory online customer service , Gap and The Netflix scored the lowest numbers. Some of the other poorly performing online retailers include Toys R Us, Buy.com, Sony, and Overstock.com, which receive the lowest score of all.

Netflix, a web service that lets customers rent DVDs and stream movies, had the biggest decline. This can be attributed to the major price hike in rental fees which happend earlier this fall. The executive of ForSee(the company that held the survey) said, “”Netflix totally misread its customer base and is paying the price, damaging its brand among both consumers and investors”.

Amazon.com and Tiger Direct climbed higher up from previous results, with the latter having the biggest jump. JCPenney, Apple, QVC.com, and Vista Print all shared third place for best customer satisfaction.

Maybe Netflix and the Gap need to walk the extra mile for their customers. They need to come up with plans that entice customers and give real value to make the customers feel appreciated and prized. Netflix and the Gap, Inc. should have some contests with good prizes to be won or maybe they take it a step further and lower their prices a little bit more. Low prices always attract customers.
