Dutch Nickelodeon Confirms The Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles & Legends of Korra

By on December 29, 2011

Nickelodeon is gearing up to add 2 new shows this upcoming year to their roster. One will be a reboot of The Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles, while the other will be The Last Avatar: Legends of Korra. This news comes from their press release regarding new series in development for the network in 2012. Rumors are that The Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles could debut as early as February, while Legends of Korra will have to wait until the fall. Here is a quote from Nickelodeon about these 2 new series,

In 2012 there are already lots of new series in the pipeline. … In the fall are “Legends of Korra”, a spinoff of the hit series Avatar, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, a remake of the same name and original animation series from 1988, on the program

A lot of fans should be happy about this news. However, I am curious as to what they will do with the turtles. We know that they were a hit among kids back in the day, but can they revitalize them for today’s standards and will they be anything like the original? I doubt it, but I will admit that I am curious as to what they do with both shows. However, I must also stress that we still do not know if these 2 shows will even come to American yet. We know that they were confirmed for the Netherlands.

Which one are you looking most forward to? For me it has to be the The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I think that we all know the loveable guys and to see them get a new lease on life is a good thing for them. But I won’t deny that I am concerned that the new series will be any good or not. I suppose only time will be able to provide us real answers about that question.
