It’s a little known fact that little girls love princess movies and Disney knows just how to capitalize on that. Their upcoming project is called Princess Sofia and she will be the star on an animated cartoon called Sofia The First and subsequent movie.

Although there is really nothing wrong with making a kids television series and movie that’s centered around the life of a princess, there already appears to be a sort of backlash. According to Entertainment Weekly, princess characters are a step back from the progress made for women’s rights. They think that little girls who grow up watching princess films will inspire girls to spend their whole lives pining for a fantasy.

What do you think of Princess Sofia? Do you think she’s already doomed for a brief future? Personally speaking, I really don’t see anything wrong with princess stories. When you’re a kid, life is all about the possibilities of your imagination. And princesses can be just as cool as dinosaurs, dragons, and unicorns. I think that most of us grew up watching films about princesses and princes, and everyone turned out alright. Do you think these kinds of films have a negative effect on young minds? Share your opinion!
