The CW has launched a section of their website to inspire their viewers to give back to charities. It is called Causes to Care About and names what charities that their own stars have taken on. It is an informative list that can help you pick out your own or you could join your personally favorite celebrity and use their charity as your own. Here is the official list that they provided of the charities that their stars support.

Thomas Dekker (THE SECRET CIRCLE) for The Alzheimer’s Association
Nina Dobrev (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) for Free the Children
Kat Graham (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation
Shenae Grimes (90210) for Chrysalis
Gale Harold (THE SECRET CIRCLE) for The Elton John Foundation and for 826 Foundation
Jessica Parker Kennedy (THE SECRET CIRCLE) for American Kidney Fund and The Humane Society
Jessica Lowndes (90210) for MS Foundation
Joseph Morgan (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) for PositiveWomen.Org
Scott Porter (HART OF DIXIE) for Gridiron Heroes and Chrysalis Foundation
Maggie Q (NIKITA) for Best Friends
Matthew Settle (GOSSIP GIRL) for Project Sunshine
Ian Somerhalder (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation
Michael Steger (90210) for Salsalegre
Phoebe Tonkin (THE SECRET CIRCLE) for Cambodian Children’s Trust
Paul Wesley (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES) for Global Roots
Cress Williams (HART OF DIXIE) for charity:water
Gillian Zinser (90210) for Artists for Peace & Justice, and Waves for Water

I did not realize how many stars they have were so involved! This makes me so happy, even if they fail; to name some of the bigger ones. I do think this list is a good idea. I am sure many fans will either find their own charities to support. It is a nice touch for the holidays, but they really could have released it anytime. We shouldn’t rely on the holidays alone to raise money for causes that we care about.

What is a charity that you support? I think that with so many that are out there, I try to find one that I can really stand behind. Animals charities are always a popular vote for me, as well as anti-bullying ones are as well. But in reality, most charities are good in general so it really should be up to what you want to support.
