Warner Bros. To Release Lego Movie
Every kid has played with Lego products at one point or another, but they have taken off onto a life of their own within the past 15 years or so. There have been Lego-dedicated heme parks and other Lego brand toys have come out. But perhaps the strangest of them all is the fact that a movie will be made about the toy. That is correct, you did read it right. Legos will be getting their very own movie and they just named their co-producer, Chris McKay. It is aimed for a 2014 release and all that is currently known that it will be mostly animated. Casting starts in January.
I adored Lego products as a child, heck I owned an extremely cute one that become a playset. I didn’t even mind the idea of a theme park or video games, but a movie? Is that really needed for building blocks? It will require a lot of writing and some creativity that might not work out so well. I know that Warner Bros (yes, they are the ones supporting it) has ran out of Harry Potter, but still. Lego has never had a story or at least the Lego I knew never did.
How do you feel about a Lego movie? I will say that the idea I creative, but I just do not see how it can work. It seems to be too random. Movies based on games before have never really worked out well and I assume for toys it will be the same way. Maybe they will realize that or at the very least write a good story line that makes sense.
Editors Note: The Lego Cartoon movies and video games have done really well in our household, I even enjoy some of the ones my children watch.
