Jennifer Lawrence Tells Vanity Fair The Hunger Games “Is Not Twilight”

By on November 3, 2011

Jennifer Lawrence talked to Vanity Fair about her movie The Hunger Games. They talked about the much waited for movie and the excitement for it. She shared that she thinks it is too early to tell and that the movie is not like Twilight by any means. You can see an interactive photo with the cast at the Vanity Fair website, as well as rest of the cast photos. It opens nationwide on March 23rd. In the mean time, here is what Jennifer had to say about the actual comparison between the 2 movies.

I try not to think too much about it, Hunger Games is not Twilight, and while I hear the comparisons, it’s really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon. I’m so proud of the work we did on the film—Gary and the entire cast and crew were amazing, and I can’t wait for it to be brought to life because I think it’s an important story. If it does become a crazy phenomenon, I’ll soak up my freedom now!

I am shocked that she would be so open about that thought. I have no doubt that the movie has a very good chance of succeeding, but as she said herself-it is not Twilight. The stories are even vastly different. It is hard to see how this movie can become as popular as 2 other series. However, it could do exactly what critics are hoping for and I am sure the stars would all love that level of fame.

Do you agree with Jennifer? I think she makes a very valid point. Nobody knows how well it will actually do until next year. It would be great if it can do as well as some of the other recent fantasy movies have. But the reality could be drastically different from what we all want. I give her major kudos for sticking by their work and being realistic about the future of the movie.
