No Circle, Just Loners – The Secret Circle Review

The Secret Circle‘s newest episode, called “Loner,” picks up with the drama from last week. Faye, who almost killed another girl, now has to cover her tracks as well as those of her coven. On top of that, she learns that she cannot use her own power by herself, which only makes her more angry that they have become bound. Diana tries to befriend Cassie, who wants to keep her distance from Diana due to her attraction to Adam. This caused a bit of an issue between them, since Diana wishes for all of them to be friends. However, that changes when everyone in the circle meets a friend of Faye’s mom who promises to hurt them to prevent a repeat of what happened before. The group then has to protect themselves from the guy, which they take care of for once and all.
While this is going on, Faye’s mother and Diana’s father deal with their own hardships. Both want to protect the circle for some unknown reason, yet the former friend is strongly against the new circle. However, neither want to take care of him despite having Faye’s grandfather. They also are working to hide their connections from their daughters, since they do not want to the truth to be known. Little do they know that the new circle for the most part has the best interests of everybody at heart. They appear to be disconnected in more than one way, but that will not stop them from their mission.
I liked this episode and so far it’s my favorite. It was more about the group as a whole than their personal lives. A different writer wrote it, and that was probably what made the improvement. It also gave us more detail about their parents. I do think that we still have a lot to learn about the parents and their history as a group. I am sure they will keep unwinding this story as time goes on. Also, I really enjoyed the fact that Cassie had to connect with Diana–it was the best part since it is so relatable for so many of us, in one way or another.
Did you like the way this episode was written? While it did have some scenes in it that were not needed, I do think that it was better off than the first two episodes. At least we got to see more of the group as a whole and not couples or whatnot. Maybe they will keep it in this new direction.
