The Simpsons

Good news for Simpson fans all over the nation. Fox orders two more seasons of “The Simpsons.” Fox has renewed the longest-running comedy for two more seasons, Season 24 and Season 25. The show will have its 500th episode in February 2012.

The renewal is good for fans. On Monday, the Fox network asked the voice cast to take a 45% cut by Friday or the show would be cancelled. The new deal won’t lower their salaries as much as Fox first asked. Their salaries won’t include any revenue pay. On Monday, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardly Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer were reported to have wanted a 30% pay cut in exchange for a small percentage of the show’s back-end profits. The offer was rejected. The show’s producers have already agreed to salary cuts but some of them have deals that include compensation from the back-end profits. Following the World Series, “The Simpsons” will return with “Treehouse of Horrors XXII” on Sunday, October 30th.

I think “The Simpsons” has been great entertainment with lots of humor. The fact that it is the longest-running television series means the actors, writers, and producers have been doing a wonderful job all along. I am happy to know “The Simpsons” will be around for at least two more seasons.
