Dollywood’s Christmas Event Makes National News

Dollywood is getting national recognition from those who say they know amusement parks better than anyone else. “Amusement Today” has given the Pigeon Forge park a Golden Ticket Award for Best Christmas Event and Best Shows. “Amusement Today” is a publication which reports on the amusement park industry and gives out awards each year. There are twenty-five categories.

Dollywood’s Christmas Event, Smoky Mountain Christmas, lights up the park with more than 14 million Christmas lights. Smoky Mountain Christmas starts on November 5th. Besides thrill rides, Dollywood has traditional crafts and music of the Smoky Mountain area. Dollywood also owns the Dollywood’s Splash Country, and the chain of Dixie Stampede dinner theaters. The amusement park has a number of concerts and musical events each year. There are appearances by Parton, her family, and other national and local musical acts. Dollywood is the site of the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Southern Gospel Music Association.

I think Dollywood sounds like a fun place to vacation. One can get an understanding of their way of life through the traditional crafts and music of the Smoky Mountains. The concerts and musical events will be entertaining as well as the thrill rides, dinner theaters, and the splash park.
