Claiming Dibs on The Lying Game

Double Dibs review

The Lying Game this week was all about the differences between Sutton and Emma, who is trying too hard at portraying Sutton and failing to keep her sister’s secrets. In fact, she seems to blab about everything, and that makes Ethan uncomfortable, as he still cares for Sutton. He took the blame for being caught with Emma/Sutton when they were caught together by Sutton’s family, but he also realizes that he and Emma truly like each other, and that makes Sutton jealous.

In the meantime, Sutton flirts with Thayer. She also seeks out her and Emma’s real mother and believes she tracked her down. Soon Sutton and Thayer find out the woman Sutton thought was her mom is not. Sutton also finds out that the twins’ birth mom gave them away in an illegal process–and that Sutton’s adoptive parents knew all along. This does not help her view of her parents. Sutton also finds out that her birth mother gave Emma up to a family but went back later to take her back…something she did not do with Sutton. Understandably, this hurts Sutton.

As for Laurel, she meets a new guy she likes, Justin. Char sees him and claims him, despite the fact that he likes Laurel and not Char. Madeline falls for Alec, who is her dance instructor, and her dad finds Sutton with his son in LA. He is on a mission to bust Sutton and Emma, since he does not like them for unnamed reasons.

This episode we saw a bit less lying and more honesty. It is a nice change of pace even though the show is all about the lies of the characters. They dropped some more juicy hints without giving away the whole story. We also see Madeline’s father and Sutton show their true colors. The writers are fabulous at keeping us on the edge of our seats. I have a feeling that by the time the season finale comes on, we will be wrapped in a story full of lies and still find truth within the show.

What did you think about “Double Dibs”? I loved it, and I think it really starts showing us who is good and bad. This episode really picked up the pace of the show in more than one way, with the fact that we know Madeline’s father has an issue and that Sutton seems to be hiding something big. I cannot wait to see what happens next week…what about you?
