Taylor Swift Help Radio DJ Propose

Taylor Swift and her mother Andrea did the unexpected and helped facilitate a marriage proposal backstage at July 28 stop of Swift’s ‘Speak Now‘ tour in Grand Rapids, MI.  Swift helped coach the WYCD Detroit overnight DJ who uses the on-air name “Jason the 300 lbs Cowboy”, for a surprise proposal to long time girlfriend Kelli Ann Siwik.

How this all started was back in February 2010 when Swift was on her Fearless Tour at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.  Jason (real name Jason Raithel) and Kelli were backstage at the concert before the concert and Andrea Swift has told the young couple that the next time she saw them she wanted to see them engaged.  While it may have taken 17 months when the couple arrived at the show last week in Grand Rapids Jason had a plan in mind.  When Jason reminded the Swift’s of Andrea’s comment before pulling out a ring.  But before he could propose Taylor urged him to take a knee, which Jason joked he might not be able to get back up.

Jason followed through on Taylor’s advice and Kelli of course said yes.  No word yet on whether Jason and Kelli will ask Swift to be their wedding singer, but they definitely have the proposal story of a lifetime to share for many years to come! Congrats to the happy couple!
