Harry Potter’s Last Film Rakes In $1 Billion Worldwide

“Harry Potter” has earned $1 billion worldwide. Warner Brothers, the distributor said Sunday that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” passed the $1 billion mark at the world box office. It is believed that it will surpass “Pirates of the Caribbean:On Strange Tides” which earned $1.03 billion.

The last of the “Harry Potter” films is the first to reach the billion dollar mark. In 2001, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” made $974.8 million which was the second best earner. Because of today’s higher prices, “Deathly Hallows” has not matched the number of tickets sold to the “Sorcerer’s Stone. “Avatar”, the 2009 film, has the record for the largest worldwide box office earnings at $2.8 billion. The “Titanic” came in second at $1.8 billion.

I think the first and the last of “Harry Potter” movies earned the most money because of the interest in the two movies. The other “Harry Potter” movies were good but a continuation of the series. The thinking behind that idea was that you can always read the books and not miss anything in the movies. It was important to see the first movie so as to view and hear all the characters. The last movie was the final ending to the series and put the stories to bed so to speak.
