Daniel Radcliffe “Cheated” To Play Dad

Daniel Radcliffe has his first mature role in the upcoming movie, The Woman In Black. He plays a father in the movie and he claims that he cheated to get the role. He brought his godson with him to the audition, who also got the role of Harry’s son. Here is what he told Empire magazine about his role.

“I cheated a bit on that [playing a father], I got my godson to audition to play my son … and he was very good and got the part! I’ve known him since he was a baby and there’s already a chemistry there; there’s a lot of love between us. I got very lucky on that.

I feel like I’ve landed on my feet with this being the first thing after Harry. Because this is very different, in that I’m playing a father and it’s a more grown-up film, but it’s not so scandalously different that people will say, ‘Oh, he’s just trying too hard; he’s trying to shock us into thinking he’s something else now.’ I think I’ve taken away some of the ammunition people can throw.”

Not bad for his first real movie since Harry Potter! I have a feeling that he will have a bright future ahead of him. As for him playing a father, it should certainly be interesting after the taste we got of him as a father at the end of the last Harry Potter movie.

What do you think about him as playing a father? I am personally excited to see him with a different role. It will provide him so many more options in acting and get him to be taken as a serious actor. It will come out next year and I can barely wait to see how it goes.
