Comedienne Sarah Silverman To Star In Her Own Show On NBC

Sarah Silverman’s upcoming comedy series found a place at NBC.

It is a single-camera comedy that is co-produced by Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox Television. “The Sarah Silvernan Program” received a put-pilot commitment from NBC. There was a bidding war between several networks.

I think the single-camera idea is interesting. Each shot of a scene is made individually. The single-camera is used on prime-time dramas, made- for- tv movies, music video and commercial advertisements. The comedy series will most likely be a satire that addresses social taboos, racism, sexism, and religion. Often when social taboos are tackled, offensive language is used. Then there are harsh characterizations for religions. I don’t think the comedies of today are as good as those in the nineties. In the nineties, there was “Home Improvement,” “Family Matters,” and “Step by Step.” These were funny and wholesome comedies without bad language or politically correct situations. I really miss the made-for-television movies and dramatic series. A lot of the good television shows were cancelled such as “Jericho.” It seems to me there is an agenda being pushed on the public through television and movies that isn’t good.
