80′s Classic Dirty Dancing To Be Remade

Kenny Ortega is directing a remake of “Dirty Dancing.” He choreographed the original “Dirty Dancing” and directed “High School Musical.”

The original movie starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. There hasn’t been a cast announced for the remake.

I think there must be a search for new stars for “Dirty Dancing.” Derek Hough, the coach of “Dancing With The Stars”, Zac Efron of “High School Musical”, and Justin Timberlake have been mentioned for the character of Johnny Castle. The role of Jennifer Grey, as Baby, has Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, both of “Glee” and Melanie Moore, a finalist of “So You Think You Can Dance?” with fans wanting to see them in the remake of “Dirty Dancing.” I think the original “Dirty Dancing” made Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey big stars. This remake could be a big opportunity for some young and perhaps unknown actors and dancers. I wish that a studio would remake some of the old musicals like “Singing in The Rain,” and “Easter Parade.” I think those movies would be difficult to cast and they would be a hard act to follow. The reason being that expectations would run high. Maybe writers could change the story line a little but keep the music and dancing intact.
