The Voice Finale review

Wednesday night was the final night for season one of The Voice and the night they announced the winner. Your votes helped decide who would score the record deal with Universal Republic and $100,000 in cash. Each coach had only one singer to represent them on Tuesday night’s final competition:  Javer Colon (Team Adam), Beverly McClellan (Team Christina), Dia Frampton (Team Blake), and Vicci Martinez (Team Cee Lo). All four singers made it this far, but only one could win the grand prize. Here is what happened on the season finale.

The hour-long episode was brief in comparison to the previous two-hour episodes we’ve seen. It was mostly a miniature concert with the four finalists performing duets with special guests like Stevie Nicks and Miranda Lambert. The first duet of the night was from Vicci Martinez and Train’s lead singer Patrick Monahan with the song “Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me).” I never did care for the song and still don’t care for the song, but I do appreciate how Vicci outsang Patrick!

The second duet of the night was from Javier Colon and the legendary Stevie Nicks. They sang her song “Landslide,” which proved to be one of the best performances of the night. Javier once again showed how he can rock the stage while staying true to who he his.

Next up was a duet from Beverly McClellan and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder with the song “Good Life.” With her dynamic voice and incredible amount of energy on stage, Beverly seems made for the rock star life!

The last duet of the night came from Blake’s two favorite girls. His wife Miranda Lambert joined his protege Dia Frampton for a stellar rendition of “The House That Built Me.”

When all the duets were done for the night, it was time for Carson to announce who won The Voice season 1. He mentioned that two front-runners were close to a tie. He then announced the two singers with the most votes: Dia Frampton and Javier Colon. After a little more chit chat, Carson got down to the nitty-gritty as he officially announced that Javier was the winner!

I was ecstatic, because I’ve been a huge fan of Javier ever since I first saw him performing the acoustic rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time.” He is very talented, and I think his down-to-earth persona really resonated with the viewers. When Javier’s album comes out, I am definitely buying a copy! What did you think of the season finale?
