Jessica Simpson To Mentor On NBC’s Fashion Star

By on June 14, 2011

Jessica Simpson is one of the most influential celebrities in the fashion industry. Her namesake fashion and accessory collection has so far proven to be a real success and now she has plans on collaborating with her sister for a tween fashion line. And now it looks like that Jessica has yet another fashion project in the works.

NBC is set to launch a fashion design competition called Fashion Star and they just announced that Jessica Simpson will be the show’s celebrity mentor. What sets this show apart from Project Runway(a reality fashion competion on Lifetime) is that this show focuses more on the retail market and less high-end design. The executive vice president of alternative programs Paul Teledgy explains why he thinks Jessica is perfect for the show:

NBC is delighted to work with singer, designer, actress and pop culture icon Jessica Simpson. With an almost billion dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers.

NBC has yet to release the premiere date for this show.

I think that they couldn’t have picked a better person to work as a fashion mentor! Jessica has been around the entertainment industry for a long time and has proven her success in the fashion world. She knows about how the style industry works and could serve as a valuable insider for fashion design hopefuls. I’m a fan of Project Runway and I can’t wait for this show to premiere.
