Stanley Tucci Joins The Hunger Games

By on May 11, 2011

The Hunger Games is about 24 kids taking part in reality show of the future where losing equals death, but there still has to be a few adults around, and the LA Times reports that Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci will be one of them.

Tucci is well known for playing the good guy in movies like The Devil Wears Prada, so it was kind of surprising when he got nominated for an Oscar for a rare performance as someone who definitely wasn’t good in The Lovely Bones. Now, Tucci returns to his good guy roots as flamboyant host and interviewer, Caesar Flickerman.

In the Suzanne Collins trilogy, Flickerman is portrayed as a character with an “outrageous appearance and buoyant personality” that interviews the contestants that will be taking part in the Games. Even though the tributes are fighting to the death, Flickerman is able to put a positive spin on just about everything and find humor in even the most unlikely situations.

It seems like a perfect role for Tucci, and I can’t wait to see him with powder blue hair and eyelids.

The Hunger Games starts production this month, and is expected to arrive in theaters on March 23, 2012.
