Rebecca Black’s Friday Covered By Katy Perry

If you thought Katy Perry drove the fans wild when she covered Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, then you haven’t seen anything yet. During her concert in Melbourne, Australia on Friday (of course), Katy shared with the crowd, “So I can’t play the flute, but it doesn’t really matter. You know why? ‘Cause all magical things happen on a Friday.” From there, Katy launched into her version of Rebecca Black’s Friday, and fans actually seemed to enjoy it. You can hear them singing along in the video clip below.

The Teenage Dream singer, who thankfully didn’t sing the whole song, ended the Rebecca Black tribute with, “I’m so glad that someone wrote a song about Friday… finally!” I’m guessing Katy either made the remark to show the topic was about as mundane as you can get when it comes to song topics, or just politely letting Rebecca know that particular day already received some attention when Katy did Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

If you just can’t get enough of Rebecca’s auto-tuned hit (I suggest counseling), then you might want to also check out Nick Jonas’ version of Friday.
