Miley Cyrus Sings Smells Like Teen Spirit In Peru

Miley Cyrus is still trying to keep an edgier persona. She covered the classic Nirvana song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in her Lima, Peru concert. You can see a video of her covering the song at the bottom of this post.
I am going to be honest here, any song by a mega band like Nirvana is a touchy topic. It is hard for even the best of singers to match up to the original. Let alone someone who’s voice is not cut out for a song like this. However, it was better than what I feared it would be. She was decent enough even if she spoke most of it.
What do you think about her cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”? Have you heard the original by Nirvana? Do you think she is trying to hard to break out of her former Disney shell? I do, but she needs to find the right fit for herself in the mold.

Kurt Cobain changed my life with his music. This is sacrilege and he’s surely turning in his grave. This Miley cover embodies EVERYthing he fought against! I paid homage to him on the anniversary of his death with my portrait of the grunge legend on my artist’s blog at
