Former Buffy Star Sarah Michelle Gellar Disses Buffy Reboot

Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer is going out on the limb dissing the reboot. Back in the early 90s Joss Whedon wrote the original movie, which later on produced the TV series that Sarah starred in. Here are her thoughts on the reboot.
It was a movie. It’s been made. It stars Kristy Swanson. They don’t need to make another one. I think it’s a horrible idea! To try to do a Buffy without Joss Whedon? To be incredibly non-eloquent, that’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard!
I have to agree with her on this. The show and original movie have a cult following, none of the original fans will be supporting the reboot. It seems like a waste of their time, along with a vain attempt on their half. I think it would be better if they abandon the idea or concept. Maybe they could do it where the torch is passed on to a new slayer? That would work better than redoing the original.

There is a whole lot of circumstantial information I could add to your post. But there is no point. You (and SMG)summed it up quite nicely.
