Sam Raimi Wants Hilary Swank for Oz

It looks like there may be another snag in the most talked about movie in the works.  Oz the Great and Powerful director Sam Raimi and Disney are at the crossroads right now over the casting of one of the elder witches for the movie.

Raimi seems dead set on bringing two time Oscar winner Hilary Swank into the fold whereas the Disney brass seem to have some strong opinions regarding the casting.  The Disney studio is opposed to having Swank in the role and instead have been pushing Raimi to offer the part to two time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams recently for the Weinstein Co Blue Valentine.  Right now it is unclear how far Raimi is willing to take the fight, but he has in the past been very tenacious in his choices.  This included when Sam pushed for Toby McGuire for the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man when Sony executives wanted Wes Bentley from American Beauty.  It was Raimi who insisted on Toby McGuire and succeeded in his push for the actor to get the part.

Oz the Great and Powerful is meant to be a prequel to the famous the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) by L. Frank Baum.  Oz the Great and Powerful is told from the point of view of the Wizard.  It tells of how the Wizard arrived in Oz and how he became the ruler.  What do you think, should Hilary Swank have the role or Michelle Williams?
