Nintendo Wii 2 Coming Soon?

Game lovers might have been able to stop focusing on the Nintendo 3DS long enough to realize the market isn’t exactly being flooded with any in-house developed games this spring, but Ubergizmo might have cracked the code that shows developers do actually still work at Nintendo.

Apparently, a study of the past ten years has revealed an interesting pattern. There was a drop in game production in 2002 and then Nintendo wheeled out the Gamecube, and they weren’t exactly overpowering the market during the time leading up to the release of the 3DS. Does the absence of new games mean developers are busy working on a new console?

The pattern isn’t set in stone and it could all just lead up to one big coincidence but it has been awhile since the Wii came out so it does seem like a great time to roll out a new game console. Will it be a Wii 2 or some other console? To me, the Wii was a huge step forward so anything less than an updated Wii or a 3D home console would be a huge step back.

What do you think? Is it time for Nintendo to bring out something new?

Now the 3DS is out, I think it will be full steam ahead for the Wii 2, with Nintendo concentrating their efforts on it.
