Nintendo 3DS Sells 440,000 Units During Its First Week

Nintendo has some good news. During the first week after the 3DS was released in the US, they moved 440,000 units. While it is lower than what the original sold, it did not turn out bad for Nintendo. Yet it did not sell as many as most predicted. However, Nintendo seems to be content with the sales.

I have to say that I am surprised that it sold even that well. However, the numbers are in and show that despite the hype it could not beat the original DS sales. It is hard to live up to one big success, unless you are Apple. With that being said, the numbers are still not shabby.

What do you think about these numbers? Do you think that Nintendo has a huge success, an okay release or a flop? I won’t call it a flop, but it isn’t what they hoped for either. I guess you could say it is a bittersweet for them, which by all means is not exactly bad but maybe a much needed wake up call.
