Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson Tie With Number One Albums

Apr - 08 2011 | Marty Shaw | 1 comment

Britney Spears did it again (Oops!), according to the latest from Cambio, and had her sixth album, Femme Fatale, land in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart with 276,000 sales during its first week of release.

While claiming the top spot is an awesome achievement, Britney also managed to get herself hooked up with a very select group. Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson are the only other female artists with six albums each that debuted at #1, with Madonna and Barbra Streisand being the only ones that had higher numbers; Madonna had seven and Streisand had nine.

Rounding out the Top Four were Wiz Khalifa, who debuted at number two with Rolling Papers, Adele’s 21 still hangs tough at number three, and Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. falls from one to four.

Radiohead (#6), Snoop Dogg (#8) and gospel duo Mary Mary (#10) also broke into the Top Ten with debut albums.
