Nintendo 3DS a Challenge to Promote
How do you show-off a 3D game console on a TV or computer that has a 2D screen? That’s the challenge faced by Nintendo with marketing the Nintendo 3DS, according to Ars Technica.
I’m sure Nintendo will make sure to mention the battery life, along with the Wi-Fi and Netflix capabilities, but 3D without glasses is what truly sets this console apart from the others.
Judging from the first commercial for the US market, I think the marketing guys have a pretty good handle on the situation. It’s easy to get the sense that the 3DS actually makes the player a part of the game, with the camera swooping in and out of various screens in an attempt to capture the 3D spirit without actually being able to capture the 3D technology. I’ve seen commercials that are a lot lamer than this so Nintendo is definitely off to a good start.
What do you think? Does the commercial do a good job or do you need to try the 3D out for yourself before grabbing one of these off the shelf?
