The Last Airbender dominates the Razzies

While the Oscars awards celebrate and reward various filmmakers, films and actors for their extraordinary work  in film.  The Razzies are the polar opposite of the Oscars and instead of honoring those in film, they seem bent on punishing various filmmakers, films and actors for their horrendous cinematic work.

The 31st Annual Razzie Awards were held at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theater.  M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender was the big winner (or ‘loser’ depending on how you look at it).  The Last Airbender took home the most Razzies.  It wasn’t a complete clean sweep as Sex and the City 2 took home several awards that Airbender was nominated for.  Shyamalan’s Airbender which is based off of the anime series Avatar which has its own cult following  took home five trophies, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D and Worst Supporting Actor for co-star Jackson Rathbone.

“Sex and the City 2″ managed to score three statuettes, including wins for Worst Sequel, Worst Screen Ensemble and Worst Actress, which was presented to all four of the flick’s stars — Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker.  Tonight February 27th the 83rd Annual Academy Awards will show the true winners.  What do you think of the Razzies?
