‘Never Say Never’ Director’s Cut to Theaters or DVD?
Just in case you didn’t find the cure for your Bieber Fever when you went and watched Never Say Never, MTV News brings word that director John Chu might just have the medicine that can cure you.
Paramount Pictures loves Justin Bieber. More importantly, the studio loves the $29.5 million that was brought in this weekend by Justin’s movie, so they’re looking at following up with a director’s cut of the film. Not wanting to waste any time, they’re thinking about releasing the new cut later this month and are just waiting for delivery of the new version before making a decision.
Chu is working on an updated version of Never Say Never, with new footage of live performances, the original movie premiere and advance screenings, and possibly even some scenes from the Grammy Awards.
If the studio decides not to go forward with a theater release, it’s a pretty safe bet that the extra scenes will end up as part of a special DVD set, and if the re-cut does make it to the big screen, it’s expected to be a 3D-only release because the cost of releasing digital prints is cheaper than printing and shipping film prints.
Would you head back to the theater for Never Say Never: The Director’s Cut or just wait for the DVD?
If your Bieber Fever is so bad that you can’t even wait until the end of February for more Justin, then don’t forget to watch him on CSI this week and get a sporty dose of the Biebster with the BBVA NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
