Willow Smith to be the Next Annie?
It looks like another classic movie is being eyed for a remake. Will Smith is reportedly in talks to revive the hit musical Annie to the big screen with his daughter Willow Smith in the title role.
The comic strip tale of the Little Orphan Annie became a massively successful stage show, doing several runs on Broadway in the 1970’s and it spawned a very popular 1982 movie starring Albert Finney and Aileen Quinn. Disney brought the story back to life for a 1999 TV movie. But Hollywood superstar Smith is now said to be in negotiations to take Annie to the cinemas in a brand new remake.
Smith, who remade the Karate Kid with his son Jaden in the lead role, has his 10 year old daughter Willow in mind for the lead role. Website reports rapper Jay-Z who signed Willow to his Roc Nation record label has been lined up to help with the film’s score. The hip hop mogul sampled a song from the movie Annie in his 1988 single Hark Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem). Willow was recently showcased her musical pipes when she performed her hit song Whip My Hair on New Years eve on the Rockin’ New Years Eve. What do you think of Willow being Annie?
