Nina Dobrev Talks about a Vampire Diaries Movie
Don’t get excited. It doesn’t look like the CW’s The Vampire Diaries will be hitting the big screen anytime soon, as Just Jared Jr. reveals Nina Dobrev talking about what goes into just making the television series.
When asked about the possibility of The Vampire Diaries becoming a movie, Nina replied, “I don’t know. It takes us 10 months of the year to shoot the 22 episodes we do. [Doing a movie] would basically mean shooting all year round, 365 days to make one. I don’t know, maybe one day.”
Since a movie schedule of that length would basically mean skipping a season on TV, it’s probably safe to say Elena and the fang gang won’t be heading to theaters for awhile, at least not while the show is still doing so well on the small screen.
Maybe if everyone stops watching the show, it will get yanked off the air and they’ll have time to do a big budget movie production. Hey! It was just an idea.
Check out the clip of Nina answering the question below and tune into MTV’s 10 on Top on Saturday’s at 11:30AM ET/PT.
The Vampire Diaries returns on January 27th with an episode called The Descent. Check out the promo pics for a sneak peek and find out what Steven R. McQueen has to say about his character, Jeremy.

I think a VD movie would only make fans want more! I’m hoping they do one some day.

this is dumb… 22 episodes are NOT equivalent to the time it takes to film one movie, let alone LESS. Nina Dobrev is cute but after reading this, she also seems stupid.
The average length of a movie is an hour and a half. The average length of a 22episode tv season is around 16 or 17 hours (without commercials). WHO in their right mind would think it takes LONGER to make something six times less lengthy?

It take a year sometimes to shoot a movie look it up.
